JASON CUMMINGS is hoping to become to the joker in Scotland’s pack after unveiling his amazing tattoo ahead of his international debut against Holland this week.
The striker seems a man born to entertain after he gave a glimpse of his cheeky persona and array of ink works to the Tartan Army while on international duty for the first time on Monday.
The Nottingham Forest star may or may not become an international-class striker over the next decade.
But if Cummings fails to make the grade for Scotland, it won’t be down to lack of personality or confidence.
The 22-year-old was in top form as he settled into Dalmahoy and told tales of Sandy from ‘Grease’ and being blitzed in Ibiza.
Then there is The Joker tattoo etched across his hand that he hopes to show off to the Tartan Army on Thursday night.
‘Why so serious?’ is a catchphrase of Batman’s nemesis — but nobody could ever accuse Cummings of not living life to the full.
Asked about his Joker’s smile tattoo, he said: “Actually, I was sober when I got it!
“It’s a goal celebration, but I’ll need to start scoring goals. If I score this week, that will be the one.
“Every striker needs a celebration. I scored that many goals up here that I was running out of them.
“I still don’t know why I got it. I’ll regret it in 20 years, but live for the moment.
“I got the tattoo in Edinburgh. When I come up I go to this girl in Edinburgh. Scoobs is her name and she’s good.
“The Joker does the smile and I’m a big fan. It’s just his character. He’s a bit like me.
“There is nothing really significant behind my tattoos, except for the one of Sandy from ‘Grease’.
“That’s what the big one on my arm is meant to be. I asked for Sandy from ‘Grease’ as she was in the movie, not now!
“I’m a massive ‘Grease’ fan. Honestly, it’s my favourite movie. That’s a wee bit of inside info there.
“Seriously, I can do the movie word for word. I watched it when I was growing up, I don’t know why.
“There is a space left on my arm for tattoos of Danny Zuko and the Pink Ladies!”
But there is more to Cummings than unusual body art — the former Hibs hitman can play a bit too.
With Leigh Griffiths out injured, interim Scotland boss Mackay looks certain to give him his debut at some stage at Pittodrie.
Cummings is big mates with the Celtic striker and revealed texts have already been exchanged.
He said: “I messaged Leigh and told him that’s me on free-kicks now.
“Would I have fancied the two against England? I dunno about that. Those were good free-kicks.
“I’m usually just floating around the six-yard box. If one of them had bounced off the post, I could have knocked it in.
“I was in Ibiza when Scotland played England. I was there with Leigh the year before. We have the same group of pals, so he might have been there if he wasn’t playing.
“I was in the Highlander Bar. It was bouncing. I can’t even mind the goals, actually! It was good.
“Leigh sent me a text saying ‘Well done on getting in the squad’ before he got injured. Then he said he was pulling out at the weekend.
“I think he will be happy if I do well. We get on great together.
“Leigh will want me to do well, but he might not want me scoring a free-kick. He’ll be raging at that.
“We’re similar. We both score goals. That’s what our games are based upon, although I’m a bit better looking.”
